is een platform voor kunstenaars, die willen werken in interdisciplinaire
groepsverbanden, in crossmediale en collectieve projecten, in artistieke experimenten
buiten de academische en museale context.
rhizomatic
biedt project ruimte aan om visuele experimenten te stimuleren, is een ruimte
voor artistiek onderzoek, is een visuele denk tank.
rhizomatic
legt linken tussen de kunstpraktijk en de theorieën die haar voeden,
ziet het creatieve proces als een onderzoek, ziet artistieke productie als
een manier om kennis te delen, blijft, net als een cel, alleen in leven door
permanente interactie met andere instellingen en projecten.
rhizomatic
ligt in Amsterdam-Noord, een voorheen industriële buurt, nu een zich
snel ontwikkelende hot spot voor de Amsterdamse kunstensector, met een zich
verdichtend net van studios en galerieën. Rhizomatic wil in deze diverse
wijk die de creativiteit prikkelt, de rol van mediator spelen tussen bewoners
en de kunstensector.

wenst geen territorium af te bakenen, stelt zich geen doelen, weigert zichzelf
te definiëren.
rhizomatic
is een platform, maar niet neutraal, al is het maar omdat ons startpunt nooit
ons nulpunt is.
rhizomatic
hoopt door elk project opnieuw te veranderen, wil zich door samenwerkingen
laten herformuleren, hoopt erop door kunstenaars binnenstebuiten te worden
gekeerd.

wil een internationale cross culturele ruimte zijn, een cel voor innovatie,
om het ondenkbare te realiseren en te presenteren: het proces van visuele
reflectie.

rhizomatic
is a platform for young artists who are interested in interdisciplinary relationships,
in cross medial and cooperative projects, in artistic experimentation outside
the academic and white cube context. To show and stimulate these visual experiments,
rhizomatic can offer a project space in amsterdam-noord.
rhizomatic
is an artistic research cluster, a visual think tank. We try to link the practice
of art with the theories that inform it. In that sense the creative process
can be understood as a form of research and the practice of art as a field
of knowledge production. Like a cell, rhizomatic can only stay vivid due to
the permanent interaction with other institutions and projects.
rhizomatic
is situated in noord, a formerly industrial neighborhood, now a fast developing
hot spot of amsterdam’s art scene, with many studios and show rooms
around. In that very diverse neighborhood rhizomatic plans to connect with
the social context, as a mediator between the art scene and the residents.
This is an attempt to scetch the project rhizomatic. However, any line to be drawn, any territory to be claimed, any goal to be set and any definition to be made, might mark a boundary to the freedom of creativity. Rhizomatic is a platform. But still, I do not believe in a platform as ever being neutral: zero is never the starting point. So I hope that with every project, rhizomatic, as a flexible framework, will be redefined, reformed and reversed by the artists and curators working here – as an international and cross-cultural spot, as a cell of innovation – to realize and present the unthinkable: the process of visual reflection.
